Paediatric Care
Chiropractic for Kids!
Being born is an enormous job and there can be many stressors affecting baby throughout the process. A variety of factors including passage through the pelvis during a normal birth, use of forceps or suction, or Cesarian (C-section) birth, can put a lot of stress on baby. These stressors can have an impact baby's nervous system and alignment and adversely affect them in many different ways. Some of this may be apparent as early as from birth but some may become more apparent later in the child's life.
When it comes to their bodies then kids (and infants especially), aren't always able to communicate if something doesn't feel right or isn't working properly. Some symptoms of stress on the child's nervous system may go completely unnoticed if not checked and examined for specifically. That's why a thorough chiropractic examination would be beneficial to assess the function of their nervous system. Apart from wellness checks, common problems that parents bring their kids in to see us for are digestive issues, constipation, poor sleep, problems with feeding or latching.
Part of our paediatric chiropractic exam includes testing Primitive Reflexes. These are a set of involuntary reflexes that are present from birth that will normally be integrated (slowly disappear) as the child's brain matures. We test to see if any of these primitive reflexes are retained (still present) when they shouldn't be. Retained primitive reflexes can interfere with a child's development. An example of just a few milestones that can be affected by retained primitive reflexes include speech delays, balance and coordination, fine and gross motor skills, energy levels, concentration, as well as learning at all levels (academic, emotional, social).
Once we identify any retained primitive reflexes, then through a combination of chiropractic adjustments and specific exercises we can help to remove interference on the nervous system and to properly integrate the primitive reflexes. Bring your little ones in and let them experience the great changes that paediatric chiropractic care can offer!

Prenatal and Perinatal Care
Chiropractic to Support a Healthy Pregnancy and Birth
We often are asked whether or not chiropractic care is helpful during pregnancy, and the answer is YES! And for many reasons.
Chiropractic care helps remove nerve irritation caused by soft tissue and structural changes that occur during pregnancy. We have definitely been able to help many pregnant women with aches, pains and headaches that are common during pregnancy. But the benefits of prenatal chiropractic go far beyond that. Prenatal chiropractic care is so important because it improves the function of the nervous system and is all about optimizing the function, strength and space in the pelvis to promote a healthy pregnancy and a healthy birth.
Our chiropractors have gone through additional educational training in Prenatal, Perinatal and Paediatric Chiropractic care. Both chiropractors are Webster Technique Certified. The Webster technique focuses on releasing tension in the sacrotuberous ligaments and round ligaments, both of which often become tightened or strained during pregnancy. The round ligaments holds the uterus in place while the sacrotuberous ligaments affects pelvic alignment, so the health of these ligaments can affect labour and delivery.
Come in and experience the benefits of Webster Technique Certified Prenatal Chiropractic care on your pregnancy. Our gentle adjustments utilizing the Webster technique along with our recommendations for specific exercises will help alleviate stress on your nervous system, optimize the alignment of your pelvis and promote a healthy pregnancy.
